4th of July in the Smokies

In the Smoky Mountains, we take our patriotism very seriously. The days we celebrate being American are not just excuses to have some fun, we honor our friends and families who are either currently serving or have served in the U.S. armed forces and we honor what it means to be American. They worked hard for our freedom, and we work hard to throw them and the public a really good time as our way of saying thanks.

In Pigeon Forge, we celebrate Fourth of July at Patriot Park from lunchtime to well after dark. The entire Old Mill area fills with eager guests who want to enjoy summer fun out in the sun while food vendors, inflatable and interactive entertainments, and a HUGE stage sets up to provide music throughout the day. This year, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers are headlining the entertainment with special performances by the Pigeon Forge Community Chorus and Hotel California leading up to it. At 9:30PM, the music stops, everyone looks straight up and watches an amazingly impressive fireworks display going on over-top Patriot Park. You can find more information on that at www.mypigeonforge.com.

In Gatlinburg, the festivities are spread out across the day, starting with the Fourth of July Midnight Parade starting 5 minutes after 11:55PM on July 3rd, the River Raft Regatta on River Road behind the main parkway in Gatlinburg, and the famous "Stand Here" fireworks show which allow visitors on that main parkway in Gatlinburg to simply look up from wherever they are and see the fireworks firing overhead. If you've never seen a fireworks show from Ripley's Believe It or Not or the Best Italian, you don't know what you're missing. You can find more information on that at www.gatlinburg.com.

And with our cabins in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, you won't be too far from either city and you'll be able to choose which seems more appealing to you. If neither of them are, well then at least you have a whole huge luxury house to enjoy in peace and quiet while everyone else is out partying! See our houses at www.mountainaircabinrentals.com.
