Looking for Somewhere Special in Gatlinburg, TN – Be Sure You Visit Anakeesta
If your family is like most part of the fun of staying in a cabin for your summer vacation in Gatlinburg, TN is being able to spend as much time as you can outdoors. One of the more popular places to go in the area is Anakeesta, located at the top of Anakeesta Mountain. Your day starts out with a Chondola ride to the summit where you will enter Firefly Village. The cool part is that as you ride up the mountainside, the views of the city and mountains are incredible.
At the Top
Once you arrive at the top, you will be treated to more spectacular views of the fantastic scenery, including Mt. LeConte. There are gift shops to hunt for souvenirs and trinkets you can spend hours in, or you can grab a bite to eat at the Smokehouse BBQ food truck. There are places to buy hot cocoa, pastries, and much more. Then top it all off with your favorite ice cream in Pearl’s Pie in the Sky. Recently, a new restaurant, Clifftop Bar & Grill opened. It features an excellent menu and a full-service bar. You can sit at one of the outside tables and eat your meal with the mountain peaks in the background while you look back on your day at Anakeesta.
Take a Mountaintop Stroll
If you feel like taking a mountaintop stroll with the lights of Gatlinburg, TN spread out below, take the 900-foot long walk along the Treetop Skybridge. The walkway sits 40 to 60 feet above the treetops and will take you to the Treehouse Village where your kids can have a great time. Take a hike along the Memorial Forest Walk while you learn about the fires we had here in 2016. Find out how the fires impacted the local community and visit the all-new Vista Gardens.
Enjoy the walking trails that run through the lush botanical gardens as they meander along. There are dozens of plants and flowers to enjoy along with a number of sculptures, including the 20-foot tall Willow Man, all of which go together to make Anakeesta a great place to take your family.
Zipline Racing for the Win
For the more adventurous, why not pick up some tickets to the Anakeesta Dueling Zipline Adventure. You and a family member or friend can race each other along 1000-foot long lines that soar 125 feet above the ground. Each time you reach the end of a section, you have to rappel down to get the next starting point. Still not enough for you? Be sure you check out the Rail Runner, a single rail coaster that will soon have you racing down the side of the mountain before returning to your cabin the end of the day.
